“Red Shadows” ORIGINAL Artwork

These two Red Tailed Black cockatoos belong together. They are mates, buddies, lovers, companions. One is mid singing, and the other listening close while chomping on some snacks. These birds are beautiful, they are not just black, but have layers of blues and browns in between their feathers, and I so badly wanted to paint that in this painting. I have painted SOOO many black cockatoos but I never get sick of painting them, the deep blacks, the soft feather texture and the sudden flashes of red under their tail which is so important to capture for these cockatoos.

Putting my artistic spin to it I added the native Australian red banksias, complementing the red tails. If you love Australian birds, especially the Red Tailed Black Cockatoo, this artwork is meant for you, in your home, work space or as a gift for someone else who loves these birds.

“Red Shadows” A3 size (29.7x42cm), FRAMED in elegant black, with a matching cream mount to watercolour paper. Painted by me the artist Mylie Weir, with professional Holbein paints on 100% cotton 300gsm watercolour paper. Created in my home studio on Tamborine Mountain. Limited original artwork, 9 of 9 in the companion collection. Once this piece finds its home, it will not be recreated.
