These two are mates, I painted them to hang together, magpie 1 and 2. One more alert and curious while the other is calm and steady. Even though they are listed separately, I hope they find the same home. They are just ment to be together. There is just something special about seeing a pair of magpies on your home wall, bringing the Australian bird into your space. With soft watercolour washes of white and black, these iconic songbirds would match perfectly in any space.
Magpies carry so much personality, from their song calling, and their protectiveness when it comes to ‘that’ Australian season to protect their babies. I hoped to capture that in these paintings. If you have ever had an encounter with a Magpie, or have them visit your own backyard, these two were made for you.

“Magpie 1,” 8×10 size, FRAMED in elegant black, with a matching cream mount to watercolour paper. Painted by me the artist Mylie Weir, with professional Holbein paints on 100% cotton 300gsm watercolour paper. Created in my home studio on Tamborine Mountain. Limited original artwork, 5 of 9 in the companion collection. Once this piece finds its home, it will not be recreated.
